ROAD TEST

After deciding to continue working with moving images I chose the opportunity to implement another one of the processes I had experimented with in the early part of this project. I wanted to make something that challenged the viewers perception of spaces and make them thing about what they were truly looking at. I hope these two video clips do just that. The both clips have been  processed through photoshop. In the first clip I have broken the whole file into individual frames and then proceeded to expand the canvas for each of these frames before flattening the image and deleting the blank spaces surrounding the originally clip and allowing the content aware feature fill the void. The breakdown of the images creates this artificial frame that is constantly readjusting its self as the clip plays. Each frame becomes a piece of distorted abstraction and when played within rapid succession we feel a strange sensation of uncomfortable mesmerisation.

The second clip shows the same clip twice one played in realtime and the other in reverse. I have then placed these two either side of one another and left a gap between. Then through photoshop I have proceeded to delete the void and let content aware create this strange blend between the channels of video. What we see is the strange imaginary cityscape form in-between. I feel that this use of two channels of video has potential to be quite effective.  I plan to explore other ways of using this technique that would involve individual video clips and the potential for dual angled video.
