Working on the fringes of photograph has meant been quite hard to find contextual references to support my work. Luckily I've found the graphic designer, Silvio Lorusso, who has used very similar processes in his open source content aware typography series. In which he opens up his methods to the internet getting his audience to submit their own content aware typographies. Four simply rules make up that parameters to creating this work:
Choose a picture with some typography in it;
Select an area that is close to the letters;
Apply Photoshop’s Content-Aware Fill;
Submit.
What follows are these strange twisted patterns made up of iconic logos and other imagery. The work creates theses twisted themes of consumerism and globalisation but in quite a playful approach. Discovering Lurosso’s work has reinforced these graphic ideologies that were starting to creep into my own practice.
