I wanted to start to include some of the processes I had been developing and combining them with moving images. I have always felt photography and moving image share a strong experimental relationship. The inclusion of HD movie within DSLR’s has dramatically increased accessibility for practitioners who cross over their practice from the still image to one that moves. This blended world of creativity through lens based mediums led me think to how I could apply some of my own techniques to moving image.
I decided to try and mix together to channels of video frame by frame and see what effect it might be generated. Firstly I split two separate videos into frames, and then created a batch process that automatically blended them together. Letting photoshop have complete control of the outcome. This differed from the still images that I had a little more manual involvement with. What was created was this strange combination of two videos moving in different directions, one going up a lift and the other along the side of a motorway. The directional spilt caused this interweaving crossed patterns on top of these melded textures.
